A Message from GYAC
Dear Friends of GYAC,
It is our hope, here at GYAC, that you and your loved ones are safe and healthy. As a long-term partner of the center, you may be wondering how COVID-19 has impacted our students, seniors and those in the community that rely on us. Following the recommendations of the CDC, we have suspended all student and adult programs and activities until further notice.
We are committed to the safety and well-being of the children and families we serve. Therefore, GYAC is developing a plan to provide supplemental academic and mental health support to children and families during this difficult time. As some of our families struggle with childcare issues, the potential loss of income and increased stress, the valuable assistance and skills that our teachers and volunteers offer in our academic-based after school program, our services are needed now more than ever.
As the school district prepares to host classes online starting March 30, GYAC is working towards offering a homework assistance hotline in the near future.
In addition to supporting our students, we are coordinating with the local food bank to continue providing for families that experience food insecurity.
Although schools remain closed, GYAC is dedicated to ensuring that our students are safe, healthy, and succeeding academically. We will keep you updated as we learn how to respond to the rapidly changing situation facing our community, our country and the world.
Please contact me at 772.794.1005 should you have any concerns, questions or ideas of how we can better serve our students and seniors during the pandemic.
Regular updates will be posted on our dedicated COVID-19 webpage: https://www.gyac.net/news/covid19/
